Because we rarely finish a summer hike in time to drive home and cook supper at a reasonable time, we are always looking for good eateries (and watering holes). One of our favourites is the bar in the Black Diamond Hotel. Located on the SW corner of the main intersection in Black Diamond, it is in our opinion, the best bar in the Foothills. It’s main attractions, comfortable arm chairs, a good selection of beer on tap and a large, reasonably-priced, value-for-money menu. Most important, it is open to 1:00 am.
They have an extensive selection of appetizers and snacks, soup and sandwiches, a selection of salads, wraps, hamburgers and of course in cattle country, steaks. There are daily specials—steaks, wings on Wednesday, shrimp on Thursday, etc. A very good menu.
Although set up as a sport-type bar, the noise level is reasonable and the surroundings attractive. The hotel and bar were renovated in 2000-2001. The L-shaped bar hosts special events including Karaoke on Fridays in one of the wings, while the other, quieter, section has the comfy chairs. Numerous screens show current sporting events.
Give it a try.
