Flower garden at Cat Creek Hills
During the last few years Alf Skrastins has been taking some really fine photos of flowers in Kananaskis Country. I note he has more pics of flowers than of views and people these days. Here are just a few of this year’s pics.
Beautiful! I’m finally learning the names of some of these wild flowers, thanks to Alf’s photos and descriptions. Healy Pass was a riot of colour last week; not sure how much longer it will last. I posted a couple photos on my ski blog. http://skihere.ca/2011/08/05/hiking-healy-pass/
Just about anywhere this year. I’m told the Western wood lilies and Yellow lady’s slipper are spectacular under the powerline near Canmore! I can verify that Mt. Lipsett above treeline in the meadows and on the shaley ridges is great. Found my favourite Woolly fleabane there, being bashed around in the wind. Also roseroot. Alf reports that sky pilot is blooming on Pasque Mountain.
So, where are the best places to see wild flowers in K-country?
