After suffering far too many non-hiking days due to Washington/BC forest fire smoke, we headed north up the Icefields Parkway today, Thursday Aug 27. Conditions started improving and were OK around Bow Summit, and our hike up Parker Ridge was virtually smoke free.

It isn't K-County, but at least you can breathe up there.

Like what I found when I went back to my old stomping grounds in the Bighorn Backcountry for a three day backpack in September. The smoke was tapering off in Calgary finally around that time, but it was good to see a trail I hadn't been on in 18 years.
