Been a while since I posted a TR ( been hiking everywhere but K-country again this year it seems). After going through my mind of possibilities of where to go for the day, I decided on Tombstone Lakes via Elbow Pass as it was a couple years since my last visit. Sunny and calm weather for most of the day, wind picked up later in the afternoon. Trail between Elbow Lake and Tombstone campground was in good shape with a few muddy spots to walk through. The second lake at Tombstone was as beautiful as ever, froze over with just enough ice that you could see down into the water quite a ways. From the lake, I completed my 27 km day hike by making my way back up the hill from the campground and down the Sheep Trail to the first crossing. The rebuilt trail was in fine shape thanks to the tireless efforts of those who laboured to bring it back to life after the flood.
