MOUNT LADY MACDONALD
Distance 9.0 km return, height gain 888 m, strenuous
The reward for a trudge up Teahouse Ridge on Lady MacDonald is a fabulous view of the Bow Valley.
Start: Drive Elk Run Boulevard to a parking lot on the left (west) side of the bridge over Cougar Creek.
Difficulty: A good to fair marked trail with moderately steep grades throughout. Cairns and branches or rocks laid across old trails keep you on the right track. Expect some shale, scree and rocks underfoot. Being southwest facing, the slope bakes on hot summer days, so carry up lots of water.
Note: Walk up gravel flats (no trail yet), past the houses and cliffs and gain the old trail on the west bank.Trail is in perfectly fine shape the whole way with no signs of flood damage.
  • Looking up at the mountain from old teahouse site.

Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
