Distance 16.2 km loop, height gain 60 m, fairly easy
A circumnavigation of the lake at the heart of Kananaskis Country. Once "a revelation of beauty hardly equalled anywhere," the lake is now a reservoir. Despite this it's a grand hike with ever changing views of the surrounding peaks as you progress around the circuit.
Start: Either Upper Lake or North Interlakes parking in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.
Difficulty: Good well-marked trails. One section is over rocks with steps. Grades are mostly flat or undulating.
Note: There is a new bridge over Sarrail Creek.
