Distance 17.4 km return, height gain 690 m, moderately strenuous
Waterfalls, tarns, cliffs. The head of Ribbon Creek’s north fork is a magical place and reasonably easy to get to.
Start: Ribbon Creek parking.
The valley is closed Dec 1–June 15
Difficulty: Fairly good trail to First Lake with one short, boldery section. Beyond First Lake, though, the way remains rough and steep in spots, particularly the slope below Third Lake, which is almost a scramble.
Note: Distance and height gain is to third lake.
There are two bridges and a section of new trail in the first kilometre that bypass the collapsed stream banks. You are back on the old trail after the second bridge.
