HIGHWOOD RIDGE
Distance 4.4 km return, height gain 488 m, moderately strenuous
Who can resist the summit looming over Highwood Pass parking lot? It's known that the Boundary Survey used this summit, the northernmost point of a long ridge, as a camera station called "Highwood Ridge North" in 1916.
Start: Hwy. 40 (Kananaskis Trail) at Highwood Pass parking lot.
Difficulty: Expect a generally steep trudge on trail with a few scrabble sections. The scramble immediately below the top is optional. Most people return the same way.
Note: With two vehicles, you can carry on over the southeast summit and descend via trails in Storm Creek to Hwy. 40. See #51A.

Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
