BLACK PRINCE LAKE
Distance 9.9 km return, height gain 625 m, moderately strenuous
A beautiful high cirque under the cliffs of mounts Black Prince and Warspite.
Start: Hwy. 742 (Smith-Dorrien/Spray Trail) at Black Prince day-use area.
Difficulty: The climb into a cirque below the north face of Mount Warspite is a steep grind on a variable trail. Be alert for griz in the waist-high flower meadows below the headwall.
Note: Those with energy to spare can wander up the grassy southeast rib of Mount Black Prince to rockline. It’s a great viewpoint for the cirque and for Warspite Lake a few thousand feet below your feet.
