CANYON CREEK ICE CAVE
Distance 11.8 km bike-hike, height gain 274 m, moderate
A long hike or easy bike to an ice cave in the steep cliffs of Canyon Creek.
Start: Hwy. 66 (Elbow Falls trail). Turn north onto Canyon Creek Road and drive 650 m to Ings Mine parking lot on the right side just before the gate.
Difficulty: An easy walk (or bike) along a gravel road, followed by a short stint up a rough rocky trail to Canyon Creek Ice Cave.
Note: Ice caves change over time, depending on the climate. The skating rink floor is still there in the main cavern, cold drafts and ceiling drips putting down layers of ice over a mosaic of candy wrappers and a Pepsi bottle. Farther in, the once simple boulder climb into the ongoing tunnel has been blocked by a wall of ice for the last 20 years.

Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
