This route follows the long grassy south ridge of a hill shaped like a beached whale. Named La Butte des Fleurs â€” The Hill of the Flowers by R.M. Patterson after â€œflowers beyond all imaginingâ€, It stands aloof from the backbone of the Elk Range, its solitary position making it an excellent viewpoint.

Difficulty: A long, moderate climb up an open hillside.
