HIGHWOOD BEAVER PONDS TRAIL
Distance 6.6 km return, height gain 15 m, easy
A logging road and trail runs along the west side of the Highwood River Valley to join with Fitzsimmons Creek trail. Mainly, though, it's used as access to beaver ponds where the fishing is good for Brookies. Also used as part of the optional descent route off the Coyote Hills.
Start: Hwy. 940 (Forestry Trunk Road). Just south of the bridge over the Highwood River at Highwood Junction park in a road widening on the left (east) side.
Difficulty: Easy walking, but can be wet and muddy in places.
Note: In winter, you can use it to access Fitzsimmons Creek trail.

Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
