HAILSTONE BUTTE FROM THE EAST
Distance 3.2 km return, height gain 336 m, moderate
The usual hiker's route is the shortest and steepest, all on grass with a few metres of rock below the lookout. The scrambling is easy.
Start: Hwy. 532 (Johnson Creek Trail). At The Hump (pass). Park on the south side of the texas gate in a small parking area on the east side.
Difficulty: Short and steep, mostly on grass.
  • Roper Route to left and the Elk Traverse heading right.
