GOAT POND TO GOAT CREEK
Distance 7.8 km one way, height gain 217 m, fairly easy
A surprisingly pleasant point-to-point trail that meanders on old road beneath the Goat Range, passing an array of cliffs and buttresses. Across the valley rises the massif of Ehagay Nakoda, comprised of Ha Ling Peak and the many summits of Mount Lawrence Grassi. In our opinion, the best views are to be had by starting at Goat Pond and hiking toward the East End of Mount Rundle.
Start: Park near gate at Goat Pond dam or Goat Creek Parking on Hwy. 742 (Smith-Dorrien/Spray Trail) at Whiteman's Gap.
Difficulty: Easy hiking on good trail. See map of the northern section of the High Rockies Trail.
Note: If you want a longer hike you can add the section between Goat Pond and Three Sisters Dam for a total of 10.8 km and 310 m height gain.
  • Ha Ling and Mount Lawrence Grassi from the pond.
