Tucked right under the pass, Maude Lake was described by Walter Wilcox as â€œa desolate lake surrounded by bare cliffs and the awful solitude of that halfway belt, which has neither the beauty of the green valleys nor the grandeur of the great snowfieldsâ€. It's a grand place to visit!
Start: Kananaskis Lakes Trail (road) at North Interlakes parking lot.
Difficulty: A long, moderately strenuous trail with one long climb. North Kananaskis pass is 2.2 km past the campground.
Note: Most people camp at Forks campground and hike to North Kananaskis Pass from there or continue through to the Turbine Canyon Campground.
