MAUDE LAKE & NORTH KANANASKIS PASS
Distance 31.6 km backpack, height gain 518 m, moderate
Tucked right under the pass, Maude Lake was described by Walter Wilcox as “a desolate lake surrounded by bare cliffs and the awful solitude of that halfway belt, which has neither the beauty of the green valleys nor the grandeur of the great snowfields”. It's a grand place to visit!
Start: Kananaskis Lakes Trail (road) at North Interlakes parking lot.
Difficulty: A long, moderately strenuous trail with one long climb. North Kananaskis pass is 2.2 km past the campground.
Note: Most people camp at Forks campground and hike to North Kananaskis Pass from there or continue through to the Turbine Canyon Campground.
