RUMMEL RIDGE
Distance 6.6 km return, height gain 645 m, moderately strenuous
A moderately strenuous route to a stupendous viewpoint. The 360 panorama circles from the Borstal Peaks, past Eon and Assiniboine viewed over the Spray Reservoir and takes in nearby Engadine, The Tower and Galatea.
Start: About 1.4 km north of the Rummel Lake trailhead on Hwy. 742 at the Engadine fire burn. See map
Difficulty: At present this is a route, though there are bits of trail most of the way. A gps tracklog is useful, especially on the way down. gpx
Note: You can return via the Rummel Lake and High Rockies trails by heading down to the col between the outlier and The Tower and descending through the forest to pick up the trail from the Lake. Note that in winter there is avalanche danger from the steep slopes of The Tower above the gully.
  • Looking down ascent ridge. Assiniboine in distance on left.
