GRAUPEL SNOWSHOE
Distance 7.7 km loop, height gain 212 m, moderate
The construction of the High Rockies Trail has created an easy loop from Sawmill trailhead that we have named Graupel Loop. It can be hiked in summer and snowshoed or skied in winter.
Start: Hwy. 742 (Smith-Dorrien/Spray Trail) at Sawmill day-use area.
Difficulty: Easy going on good trails with one short, narrow section through trees. See sketch map
Note: Head north on Grapple snowshoe trail (now part of the High Rockies Trail. After 1.7 km you come to a Y-junction. To the left is the original Graupel trail, to the right a new section of HRT that connects to another, higher old logging road. You can go either way. Eventually, the two trails join at a zig-zag corner.

Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
There is a description of this trail in summer in our guidebooks
