RUMMEL LAKE
Distance 10.9 km return, height gain 396 m, moderate
To some people, this little lake, named after Baroness Elizabeth “Lizzie” Rummel, surpasses Chester Lake in both colour, setting and number of larches.
Start: Hwy. 742 (Smith-Dorrien/Spray Trail). Park beside the highway opposite the Mt. Shark Road. There is talk of building a parking lot.
Difficulty: An easy hike on good trails.
Note: The first part of the trail has been improved and re-routed with the building of The High Rockies trail adding an extra 0.5 km. It has made it harder to ski.
In summer It is possible to cross Rummel Pass and go right through to Hwy. 40.

Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
