NIHAHI RIDGE SOUTH SUMMIT
Distance 12.0 km return, height gain 762 m, moderately strenuous
A scenic meadow walk onto the lower south end of a very long ridge called Nihahi, meaning"rocky" in Stoney. Some easy scrambling will take you to the south summit.
Start: Hwy. 66 (Elbow Falls Trail) at Little Elbow Recreation Area. There is a newly renovated parking lot (2018).
Difficulty: Good well-marked trail with occasional steep grades. Near the end of the official trail the footing is on scree and rock. The route from here to the summit ridge involves some easy scrambling. The ridge itself is narrow and fairly exposed.
