HIGH ROCKIES SPARROWHAWK TO BULLER
Distance 10.4 km one way, height gain 480 m, moderate
The trail between Sparrowhawk and Buller creeks contains one glorious section across rocky avalanche slopes with spectacular views. Look across the reservoir to Mount Nestor and behind you to Rimwall, Windtower, and mounts Lougheed and Sparrowhawk. Continue climbing to a second scree slope giving a spectacular view of the reservoir's south end, and of Eon Mountain, the pointy peak near Mount Assiniboine.
Start: Sparrowhawk day-use area. You can also start from Spray Lake day-use area for a shorter, 8.7 km hike.
Difficulty: Easy going on a good trail with a surprising amount of climb. You will need 2 vehicles for this one-way trail. See HTR trail map North and HTR trail map Center.
Note: The section across the Buller avalanche paths is closed Nov 1 to May 1.
