QUAITE VALLEY TO JEWELL PASS
Distance 8.4 km return, height gain 326 m, moderate
This track (old logging road) is popular with mountain bikers and youth groups headed for a backcountry campground not too far from civilization. For walkers, Jewell Pass is a boring objective best combined with Prairie View trail and Razor’s Edge to make a scenic loop or as access to McConnell Point.
Start: Hwy 1. From the eastbound lane of the highway opposite the Loder Peak sign, pull off the road at the entrance to Quaite Creek logging road.
Difficulty: Mostly stony with a few rough sections to the campground. The long term plan is to re-build it in the forest. The trail has been re-routed up the eastern old logging road to Jewell Pass.
Map: Bow Valley
- The re-routed trail is still rough in places
Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
