Troll Falls and Eagle Spotting

Troll Falls

Gill wanted a picture of the Troll so we hiked to Troll Falls today—the shallow covering of well-packed snow didn’t require snowshoes. From the Stoney Trail parking lot (down the road to the right just after the road to Kananaskis Village)  we headed along Hay Meadow ski trail, stopping for a chat with Cliff Hansen and his friends who were counting eagles above the peak opposite. The birders call it Patrick Peak (scramblers call it Wasootch Peak and we favour G8 Summit). Carrying on past a couple of pump houses serving Nakiska, we crossed the powerline and followed the well-packed trail to Troll Falls. We hiked the undulating Troll Falls ski trail on the way back for a round trip of a mere 3.7 km.
