Partial Closure of Forestry Trunk Road (Hwy. 940)

Sections of Forestry Trunk Road (940) may be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until further notice. There will be a sign at Highwood Junction! For the next 2-3 weeks, starting Tuesday Aug 5th, the road may be closed between Highwood Junction and Cataract Creek. This affects access to Raspberry Ridge and Mount Burke. Once all the culverts have been installed in this stretch of road, closure will be just after Cataract Creek day use area, where the contractor has their bases.
There is a lot of work to be done over the next couple of months between the Pasque Mountain trailhead and Wilkinson Summit. If you plan to hike Pasque it is best to come in from the north Friday to Monday. Highway 532 across the Hump is in good shape and, though a longer drive is probably the best way to access Hailstone Butte and Plateau Mountain. Note: the Plateau Mountain Road is damaged and you will have to walk the 3.9 km to where we previously parked.

The road is open and fine as of mid-August 2015. Note that it is seeing a lot of logging truck traffic these days.

As far as I know the road is open. The post you are looking at was August 2014.

Is this road closed now due to the bears and how long would it be closed? We have a family camp up on that road this coming weekend.

Good think I checked. So you expect that the road may be closed this weekend…
