Distance 9.2 km return, height gain 770 m, moderately strenuous
A tough climb to a favourite ridge renowned for its meadows and mountain views. Most people stop at the north top.
Start: Hwy. 66 (Elbow Falls Trail) at Little Elbow Recreation Area. Just before the campground gate turn left into a very large parking lot signed "Trailhead Parking."
Difficulty: Good well-marked trails to the foot of the mountain. Good to poor trails to treeline with cairns. The ascent has steep grades and much scree underfoot. Possible river crossing of a channel of the Elbow River earlier in the season.
Note: Cairn at the start of the trail is highly visible and easy to find. There is a lot of scree on the trails up the to the ridge that made the down climb harder than usual, but doable.
Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
