Distance 8.6 km return, height gain 300 m, fairly easy
A moderately easy hike through forest and meadows to a jade-coloured lake in the larch belt. By biking to the end of the logging roads, the hiking is reduced to 4.8 km. There is a seasonal closure from May 1 - June 29 to allow the trail to dry out. The closure does not affect the High Rockies Trail.
Start: Hwy. 742 (Smith-Dorrien-Spray Trail) at Chester Lake parking lot.
Difficulty: Well-marked trails throughout. Moderate climb on logging roads, followed by a short steep section on trail, then easy grades to the lake. Creeks are bridged.
Note: The first section of trail from the parking lot was re-routed after the 2013 flood. New Start.

Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
