Distance 3.6 km return, height gain 220 m, fairly easy
A short and popular trail from Canada's highest navigable pass into alpine meadows below Mount Rae.
Start: Hwy. 40 (Kananaskis Trail) at Highwood Pass parking lot.
Difficulty: With most of the height gain occurring within the first kilometre, this trail is no easy stroll; there's some uphill work to be done before you reap your reward.
Note: From the highpoint of the loop, a moderately steep scree trail climbs 120 m to a rocky viewpoint. The trail continuing up the valley leads to the scrambler's route up Mount Rae — experienced scramblers only!

Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
