Distance 9.4 km return, height gain 1439 m, very strenuous
Sparrowhawk's an easy scree ascent until the final steep scrabble up the loose rubble of the southeast face, which feels a mite exposed if you're not used to such places.
Start: Hwy. 742 (Smith-Dorrien/Spray Trail) at Sparrowhawk day-use area. Via #85 Read's Ridge.
Difficulty: A long, unrelentingly, steep bash with considerable height gain.
Note: While the west slopes may be free of snow (usually by about mid-July), the southeast face could well be plastered with the stuff, ruining your chances of reaching the summit.
  • The summit block from the col.
