You will need two vehicles to traverse this bulky group of hills with many tops between the Highwood River and Flat Creek to the east of Grass Pass. They offer superb hiking, often from April through to November. One of the best early-season outings in the area, the traverse is good in either direction
Start: Hwy. 541 at the old (washed-out) Sentinel day-use area. Park on the gravel flats or at the side of the highway. Via #3 Grass Ppass.
Difficulty: Easy hiking on sometimes intermittent trails. See sketch map
  • Leaving top #4.

Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
