Distance 1.7 km return, height gain 236 m, moderate
A short hike up a neat little hill that can be done any time of the year.
Start: West trailhead: 1.3 km north of Mesa Butte Campground.
East trailhead: 1.1 km north of Mesa Butte Campground.
Difficulty: Although someone has called the trail Mesa Grind, it's not really much of a grind, with easy hiking on good trails. Starting at the west trailhead is slightly shorter, with slightly less height gain.
Note: A popuplar destination for a full moon hike and, with the fire circle and tent space on top is a good first overnight with the kids. You'll need to carry water. See blog of winter walk that included Curley Sand

Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
