Distance 16.3 km return, height gain 380 m, moderate
A good workout through typical foothills country. On the way round who can resist climbing Volcano Ridge for its 360 degree view?
Start: Gorge Creek trailhead via Hwy. 546 and Gorge Creek Trail (road).
Difficulty: Well-marked trails with grades varying from easy to moderately steep. Some shale and loose rocks underfoot. Minor creek crossings, sometimes bridged.
Note: There are several possible loops as shown on the map. Our recommended loop is up Volcano Ridge Trail and down South Volcano Ridge. The 5 km round trip to Volcano Summit is worth the effort on a clear day.

Please refer to the trail description in the guidebook, especially for unofficial, off-trail hikes.
