Change to Lesueur Ridge Loop

Looking from the ridge trail toward the viewpoint.

We followed this new trail a number of years ago when it was still roughed out. A few days ago we had another look at it from the bottom up and found the single track to be in excellent shape.

Near the top of the descent trail.

Basically it descends from the cairned viewpoint down a mostly open southwest ridge farther to the west and gives fairly gentle going apart from the occasional short, steep hill. It reaches the valley trail at aspens with fading blue paint marks. By omitting the most uninteresting part of the loop, it reduces the total distance to a much more enjoyable 6 km. Undiscovered so far by AllTrails which still takes people down that wretched cutline.

The lower part of the descent trail.

As you can see from the pics, the route is currently in fine shape for walking, bits of snow/ice on the up trail and valley trail, but the hillsides themselves are completely bare.
