Tiger Jaws Falls Bridge Update

Thanks to Joe Gerritsen for the update on the new bridge construction at Tiger Jaw Falls at Indian Oils day uses are. The work crew told him the only remaining work was to backfill the bridge approaches on both sides and that it should be done by the end of the month. This will give us a month to access the trails on the south side of the Sheep River before the road closes for the winter. Weather permitting.

Bridge is great. However past bridge – turned away due to ” Bear in Area” caution warning signage – was solo and no bear spray.

Yes, you can cross it. Today, Tuesday the 8th, sub contractors were just finishing putting in guardrails both on the bridge and on the approaches.

Hello! just wondering if the bridge is actually open yet?

Forgot to mention I also wandered up the sheep trail from bluerock to check out the new bridge over the sheep upstream. That thing is built like a battleship! All steel and concrete under the wood deck and built with blade shaped legs on the upstream side. Quite an impressive bit of welding! It should no doubt be there a long time (hopefully!)

Took a drive into the sheep today. Looked like a crew was busy backfilling the bridge. It’ll probably be done soon but the road down to it is a quagmire.

It’s a heavy duty construction, 4 m wide with a concrete deck! From it you can see the old bridge lying in splinters many bends downstream.

While we were camping there at the end of August, there were trucks going in and out with bridge components painted blue…

Good to hear! It’s been a while since I’ve been on the other side. Any news on the new (blue) bridge on the little elbow?
