Haig Glacier Retreat

I came across a couple of pictures on an old backup CD that might be of interest. They show the retreat of the foot of the Haig Glacier between 1982 and 1998. Both pictures, by Gillean, were taken from slabs just above the flats at the foot of the glacier. If you are up there this summer take another picture from the same place and we will add it to this post.

A joy to visit on skis or snow shoes in the winter. A longer trek in the summer months if avalanche conditions are safe. The Haig glacier via the French or Robertson glaciers is worthwhile place to visit.

    Hello Tony,

My name is Pate Neumann, I am the Haig Glacier Coordinator for the WinSport Canada training facility run on the glacier each summer. I am putting together a guide book of sorts for the camp, which will give information to the athletes and coaches about the environment they are surrounded by, specifically the glacier. I was wondering if it would be possible to use the two pictures from this article? I will be up working on the glacier this summer and will take another picture from the same spot to see the changes from 98.
    Thanks!
