Sawmill Snowshoe Trails

 An updated version of a previous post that includes trails brushed out by Friends of Kananaskis Country volunteers in 2020. I suggest loops for snowshoers to enjoy and include a sketch map that you can print to take with you.

Nakiska Ski Area is advertising snowshoe trails and guided snowshoe trips!  While the original press release had the trail open to everyone, guided or not, just before Christmas they declared their snowshoe trail would be for guided parties only. No other snowshoers allowed. This decision may affect how the the rest of us get to Marmot Basin. The upper section of Mid-Mountain Road (the old Marmot Basin Road), part of the Nakiska snowshoe trail, is the only way for snowshoers and skiers to access Marmot Basin.

Snowshoe Elkwood Loop & Marsh Loop

Finally got to try out three new official snowshoe trails in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park.: Elkwood Loop, Marsh Loop and the connector to William Watson Lodge. While each is quite short , 3.3 km, 1.9 km and 860 m respectively,  they  can be joined together to make a 6.9 km loop from Elkwood parking lot. [...]
