When we go to the Sheep River area of Kananaskis Country for a days hiking or snowshoeing we often get up early and drive to Turner Valley for breakfast. One of our favorite places is Coyote Moon, one block north of the main junction on Hwy 22 (Main Street). It has a pleasant, rustic atmosphere with local art (for sale) on the walls and friendly staff.
All-day breakfast options range from the standard bacon & eggs to smoked salmon eggs Benedict. The daily special when we were there was Monkey Toast: French toast with grilled bananas! Coyote Moon serves specialty coffees as well as a couple of varieties of regular coffee. However, one free refill when you buy breakfast is a little cheap, in my coffee guzzling opinion. Strangely, they don’t have healthy food such as granola and yoghurt. They used to, but there was no demand. The café has an “order and pay at the counter” system. Someone brings the meal to your table.
Later in the day they serve soup, freshly-prepared sandwiches, salads, burgers and beer. Hours 7:30 to 3:00 Mon to Fri. 8:00 to 3:00 weekends.
